Of course, you have to pay attention to the lessons that are being taught during these classes especially when verbs and its tenses are being discussed.  Listening closely will also be very vital because French has a good deal of nasality to it.

Reading and conversing in French is also beneficial in learning the totality of the language. By reading, you are enabling yourself to increase your vocabulary, as well as your understanding through the context of a particular reading material. Conversing with a native speaker of French will do you a lot of good because he can be able to correct you with your mistakes and you will be able to emulate the way he speaks his language.
